The introduction of “Fan Bonus of the Night” and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is pushing its partnership with Crypto.com to the next level.

It’s a unique collaboration in which fans vote on fighter bonuses for pay-per-view (PPV) events to be paid out in bitcoin, CryptoNews Australia reported.

Fans Award UFC Athletes Bonuses

UFC matchmakers were entirely responsible for determining whether competitors performed performances worthy of a bonus. However, with the introduction of “Fan Bonus of the Night,” fans can now participate in what is often a contentious decision.

The inaugural fan bonuses will be out this weekend at UFC 273, which features Australian featherweight champion Alexander “The Great” Volkanovski defending his title against South Korean veteran TKZ, also known as “The Korean Zombie.”

These fan bonuses will be in addition to fighter salaries

There will be three bitcoin incentives totaling US$10,000 to US$30,000 distributed. Given that fighter pay is still a hot topic in the MMA world, it’s worth mentioning that these fan bonuses will be in addition to fighter salary, as well as the standard U$50,000 “Fight of the Night” and “Performance of the Night” prizes.

Crypto.com’s proactive effort to promoting fan involvement was praised by “Uncle Dana,” as UFC president Dana White is popularly known by fans and MMA (mixed martial arts) journalists alike.
