Telegram enables cryptocurrency transactions via chat
Telegram users can install the latest version of the messaging app to use the wallet bot.
Telegram users can send cryptocurrency to other users through its messaging app.
Currently, Telegram is a crypto-friendly app and has more than 550 million users across the globe.
Telegram’s decentralized blockchain, The Open Network (TON), announced the initial rollout of its virtual wallet bot. Developers are claiming the wallet bot is transaction free.
Allowing users to use the new wallet bot
To enable the new wallet bot, all validated users must install the latest version of the Telegram app. However, the messaging app does not necessarily endorse the new feature.
Meanwhile, TON community is an open-source foundation committed to Toncoin development and the associated blockchain.
CoinMarketCap.com lists Toncoin as the 205th-largest virtual currency with $2.83 billion market value.
Sending Toncoin to other Telegram users
The feature has more than 800,000 activated accounts on Telegram. It also enables users to send and receive Toncoins.
“We anticipate that this functionality will extend into the consumer to business payments so that people can easily acquire goods and services by sending Toncoin via bots in the Telegram app,” CoinDesk quoted the statement of TON Foundation’s spokesperson.
“It is hoped that this simplification of the cryptocurrency transaction process will enable greater adoption around the world, and help to embed blockchain payment solutions into people’s daily lives,” TON Foundation also announced in a press release.
