Daymak, a Toronto-based producer of personal light electric vehicles (LEVs), plans to launch a cryptocurrency-mining car. It will allow owners to earn money while parked, plugged in, or wireless charging.
According to Daymak’s website, the Spiritus is a three-wheeled all-electric vehicle that can seat two adults and is intended to be a daily commuter “designed with the track in mind.”
According to Yahoo Finance, the base model Spiritus Deluxe has a top speed of over 85 mph. A 0-to-60 time of 6.9 seconds, and a range of 180 miles.
The Spiritus Ultimate is an upgraded sport model with a top speed of more than 130 mph. A 0-to-60 time of 1.8 seconds, and a range of 300 miles.
“I believe that cryptocurrency will eventually replace banks and transactions.” Aldo Baiocchi, president, and founder of Daymak, told Yahoo Finance Live.
“It seemed only natural to include crypto mining capabilities. This is because the car comes equipped with computers, and most autos, as you know, depreciate.”
The Deluxe and Ultimate models are expected to ship in 2023 with suggested retail prices of $19,995 and $149,000, respectively. The Spiritus Deluxe is also available for $18,495 as a pre-order.
Spiritus mines crypto through Daymak Nebula
In terms of mining, the Spiritus uses Daymak Nebula. The world’s first comprehensive cryptocurrency suite for EVs.
The dashboard of the car, which is currently exclusive to Spiritus orders. It will allow owners to manage, send, and receive cryptocurrency while driving.
While parked, plugged in, or wirelessly charging, the Nebula Miner can mine Bitcoin (BTC-USD). Also, Ethereum (ETH-USD), Doge (DOGE-USD), and other cryptocurrencies.
“You use a car for one hour per day. So, if you drive our car for 23 hours a day, you’ll be making money — anywhere from $5 to $12 [per day]. It depends on crypto prices, of course,” Baiocchi added.
Daymak has sold over 100,000 electric vehicles. Mostly electric bikes, mobility scooters, and ATVs, according to Baiocchi.
The company unveiled a Daymak Avvenire series of six products (of which the Spiritus is one) in March, with production set to begin in 2022.
Daymak has received over $900 million in orders from retail and distribution letters of intent, according to Baiocchi.
